When to visit Bhutan

March, April, May, September, October, and November are classified as high season. These are the busy months mainly because the weather is milder and the most important festivals are held.

Spring (Mar, Apr, May): Cloudier at altitudes but there is abundant wildlife and flowers are at their best. Ideal for birding, photography, trekking, cultural and festival tours.

Autumn (Sep, Oct, Nov): The weather is pleasant, breathtaking scenery from the passes. Ideal for trekking, photography, bird watching, cultural and festival tours.

Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb): Can be very cold at night, but the skies are clear and mountain views at their most stunning. Ideal for photography, arts and crafts, festival tours and low level trekking.

Summer (Jun, Jul, Aug): Monsoon with heavy rain. A paradise for tourists interested in botany and butterflies.
